Bio Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky was a popular Russian composer and conductor of the late Romantic era. Tchaikovsky’s music is highly regarded for its tuneful melodies, beautiful harmonies and colorful orchestration. His body of works includes six symphonies, a number of large-scale orchestral compositions and several operas. He also composed many smaller pieces for solo piano, voice and chamber ensembles. He is mostly known, however, for composing the music to some of the world’s most beloved and often performed ballets.
