I think you are painting 'rock music' with a broad brush. A lot of rock/pop is pretty dern silly and cheesy and pointless, but there is a lot of good music out there as well. I certainly get frustrated with the heavy rotation radio that plays the flavor of the month 100 times a week, but there is stuff out there that is good.
