Smile I would like a string quartet of Vivaldi's Winter

piece. If it could be for the medium level that would be great. Can you do this? I need a second violin also. Thanks a million!
Sincerely,
PJPotter

Hello PJPotter and thank you for your post.

Well, are you asking for a string quartet version of the Winter originally for violin and orchestra? Or are you asking a version for violin with string quartet accompaniment? Please, let me know.

Thank you again.

Sincerely,

We have two violins, a viola, cello and bass, would be playing together. The group has been playing in first and third positions on their instruments. If some fingerings were put in for them this would be helpful. Otherwise, I hope this answers your question. I had never really thought about two ways to play the song. I just know that it is one of my favorites! Thanks.

Well, I think you are looking for a simplified version of it. Well, we'll consider to do a such transcription despite I am not able to say you when it could become available. We'll do the best we can.

Thank you again!

I look forward to the music. How hard is it to compose music? My son who plays viola is wanting to write music. Do you have any advice?
Thanks, Pamela

Dear Pamela,
composing is wonderful. How old is your son? Just to give you the right advice.

Thank you for your kindness.

He is 17 yrs old and has been playing viola for 5 yrs. He started with piano but it didn't flow quite right. Viola has just taken off for him in the past five months. He is learning vibrato and is loving it. He can't wait to play in Chamber and according to his instructor he will get to participate in that group come fall time. So his is really excited.

As a further note, we played The Star Spangled Banner that you arranged in our final youth orchestra concert. Our conductor had the audience stand as we played it. So we send you our thanks for taking the time to compose it. Very rewarding!
Take care and much blessings,
Pamela

Of course, that's the right age to start composing. He's enough mature to understand how to put on music his thoughts. I would strongly suggest him to take composition lessons from somebody, maybe beginning with the basic study of harmony.

Listening to compositions of the best composers by following the score is also a very good practice. He could start from the classical such as Mozart and Beethoven from the chamber/solo repertoire to the orchestral one. That helps to understand how composition have in common and how composers develop their ideas.

About your performance of the The Star Spangled Banner, I am very glad to know it. Thank you very much for letting it me know!

Thank you again for your kindness, if you have any further questions, please don't hesitate to ask me. My best wishes for your son's coming musical projects.

Sincerely,

Default winter - 2nd movement easy version for 5 instruments

Hi, I did a transcription of the 2nd movement some time ago (for brass quintet, actually, but it can easily be modified). This is the beautiful slow tune; I think this is what you are looking for. I will email it to Fabrizio to tidy up for publication.
