Woah. I should've noticed this thread earlier!

For those that don't know (and I know that YOU do, TVL), violists are often the center of many jokes. For instance, read this. Though many people have their feelings against them, I honestly like them way more than violins. I've had many bad violin experiences. I also especially hate writing for violin (that's why most of my duets are viola and cello!).

I love violas, only they have so many great jokes.

Hey! I like my violin. It's nice and squeaky.

Yeah about string instruments not my favorite thing unless you can play them right. I'm sorry I'm just really biased towards the brass instruments, of course I've been playing them for 5+ years and I love the timbre of the instruments, I do have to say though that the viola and the violin both when played correctly have wonderful sounds. Just don't get started on percussion, because with the right wind instruments and accents they can easily be replaced.

Well just to let you all know I actually have played the Violin but was severely brassed before I ever picked it up, and I do love it, it just, in my mind, will never compare to my trumpet.

That's weird: because I play the violin and I bought a trumpet, but I like the violin more. We're like mirrored-images of each other.
