Mozart? Three or was it Six German Dances?
Indeed, was it Mozart? I was a violin student ages ago (1956 . . .) and our beloved high school orchestra and band teacher/conductor/director introduced us to those German Dances (six or three of them) that may have been Mozart. The man was wonderful -- full of gimmicks such as recording us and selling the 33rpm records (Richard Bales' Confederacy), and procuring two massive (antique?) German post horns to use in one of those German Dances. The sheet music we were using for them had supposedly been abandonned by a Luftwaffe ensemble as it vacated an airfield in France!
I have forgotten all but one of those Dances -- I think! It is a familiar piece that I have heard during the Christmas holidays over the years (I can still play it, more or less) and may have heard it called "sleighride" or some such.
Could I BE any more obscure?
I've been a rock guitarist too long -- forgotten my roots.
Anyway, that piece just happens to be the one that used the post horns. Does anyone have a clue? I'd love to get the sheet music or a recording.
Many thanks.

Thank you
Wow! I sampled all 25 of those -- all so delightful I immediately placed an order for them -- and, sure enough, the very last one, 3 German Dances, K. 605: No. 3, was the one I was looking for. I knew I’d struck pay dirt as soon as I heard No. 1. Many, many thanks!
Incidentally, the reason that particular dance has remained familiar through the years (aside from my flamboyant memory of it) is that it is, indeed, often played as a Christmas piece – probably because of the sleigh bells!
Now, if I could just find the sheet music. I’ll check again, but I don’t believe you have it.
Again, thank you so very much.
