Smile Name that Composer

Okay, stole this idea from Francesca/TVL from another thread. I think it's a good idea.

I'll give you a biography and you name that composer!

We'll start with a super easy one:

I was born in 1732 in Rohrau. I was a leading composer of the Classical period. I'm sometimes known as the "Father of the Symphony". I was also known by my nickname, "Papa". Who am I?

I can't think of a way to put a lot of information in without giving it away. This is actually harder than I thought. Try this one:

I was born in 1782 in Italy. Although I am most known for my ability on the violin, I was also an excellent guitarist. I wrote six concerto for violin. In addition, composers such as Brahms, Liszt, and Rachmaninoff wrote variations on themes that I'd written. The violin that I played now resides at the Museum of Genoa.
