What do you do before a performance then? I just rely on my adrenalin (I don't drink coffee, sometimes coke). You do the same?

Being a leftanded violist, I have enough trouble with bow control without the jitters.

My coffee usage is typically after breakfast.
I work at a computer (as so many do these days) and drowsiness sucks.

Perhaps I should clarify:
I am lefthanded but I play normal.
The bow is in my right hand, which is coordinationally challenged.

Before a performance I warmup. That's about it.

Left handed violist? Wow, I never knew one.
Please pardon my ignorance of violas, but wouldn't it be easier (even though you're left handed) to play with your right?
By the way, Welcome to Virtual Sheet Music Forums!
Sincerely,
Sylvia

Oh, sorry. My bad....I should've imagined it! (It would be funny to see a violist keeping the viola the opposite direction...esp in a performance!)

I understand now the tremolo!
Well, the good thing is that you can use both hands almost as well!
Could you theoretically write with your right hand?

Enjoy,
Sylvia

"The bow is in my right hand, which is coordinationally challenged."

I am very lefthanded. Fortunately most of the finger dexterity demands are on the left hand.

I don't play guitar because I can't keep rythmn.

I wish I would had started violin before the age of 5.

Before 5? That would be very precocious! Don't be so hard on yourself, at that age, it would've been your parents' job to make you start.
At what age did you start?
