The instrument I was looking for calls Sheng.

The other instrument somenone was looking for call a Alphorn. Or a Swiss Horn.

There's a whole museum full of odd instruments like that in brussles, there was a cello with 17 strings there

Wow , 17 strings....I imagine that in order to play it you must have an oversized hand...

you wouldn't play all 17 strings, you would probably play (only) 5 or 6, the others would be sympathetic strings, ie. the vibrate when you play the other strings. They used a type of violin with sympathetic strings (though probably not 12 of them) in the music for the Lord of the Rings, for the Rohan theme, it sounds fantastic.

I could probably play it. Lol, jk. I do have big hands though. My piano teachers have always been jealous of my fingers, i can reach from C to the next D or E, depending on how hard i want to stretch. lol.

Whatever! I'm really no good with string instruments. I've tried on my dad's and brother's guitars but it hurts my fingers too much to try hard. Lol. I'm really lazy, i haven't played hardly at all lately. And of course, the week that i practise piano the least it the week that i have to play for church! Our pianist didn't show up so i had to fill in. I'm just glad our organist was there, i screwed up almost every song! Nobody could really tell though, thank God!
