I've learned so much in the short time i've studied with her.
and she hasn't done much studio work in a long time, lately it's been concerto performances and she's working on a piano trio cd with colleagues here.

Abcello, Name of your teacher?
TB, Isn't that why I'm on these forums.

Do you have to call me TB? I don't think I like being called tuberculosis.

Susan Poliacik. I don't think she's particularly well known outside of the NY studio scene...though I could be mistaken.
I previously studied with Myles Jordan, of the DaPonte string quartet.
Just curious...do any cellists ever post on this board?! lol

Yes, I do occasionally.
As for my favourite piece, im not really sure, I haven't really heard a lot of cello music, but my fav. piece would have to be bach, something from the first suite.

My fav. parts from the 1st suite are: Prelude,Courante, and Gigue, BUT, my most favorite out of the suites is the Prelude from #6.

why is everybody so obsessed with the 6th suite?
and why did Chopin write a cello sonata? it's like the most random thing for him to write. he wrote for piano, piano, piano, piano, piano, piano, piano, piano, piano, piano, piano, piano, piano, piano, piano, piano, piano, piano, piano, piano, piano, piano, piano, piano, piano, piano, piano, piano, piano, piano, piano, piano, piano, piano, piano, piano, piano, piano, piano, piano, piano, piano, piano, piano, piano, piano, piano, piano, piano, piano, CELLO, and then back to piano, piano, piano, piano, piano, piano, piano, piano, piano, piano, piano, piano, piano, piano, piano, piano, piano, piano, piano, piano, piano, piano, piano, piano, piano, piano.
and his concertos suck, at least compared to anything else they wrote. i once read a reivew-of-sorts about his piano concertos and they said it was "strong on piano, weak on concerto". so totally true.

I take it that you're not a cello player, or else you'd know.
