Why do songs in Ab have to be so much easier to play than F?!?! I can play just about any hymn in Ab the first time and get it right but give me something in F and I can't ever play it! So guess what our organist did? She picked out like 20 songs that she thought I might be able to play and 98% of them are in F or whatever key signature has G and C sharp. I NEVER play anything in sharps!!! Why would she think that I could play them????

Do you practice or warm up playing scales at all? It would seem like that would help you get used to playing in a particular key. F major is pretty common key, and I would think I lot of traditional tunes are in G, D, and A, so it would be good to be able to play in those keys.

No, I don't. I don't know any of the scales.

Probably all three of those might be good. I don't play piano, though, so there may be other things.
