I'm surprised that Romanov doesn't have a website.
The Gliga website is http://www.gliga.ro/

Side note: I'm in the process of putting together a string quartet for a wedding in August.

Silly me.... I just looked at the label in the violin. In fine print:

faciebat Reghin, Romania, 2004

So, it did come from a workshop in Reghin.

As far as the "Romanov' tag, I was thinking that that is just a model name that Violins, Etc. uses, and not the actual maker.

My violin is two years old already! It's a toddler! (I've only been playing for 1 year now).

Looks like an import opportunity for someone. I'm curious about the Mandola.

I'm curious about the bouzouki! Would like to have one of those. Hmmm.... minumum order is $300... So, you can get a pernambuco bow and bouzouki for a little more than that!

Speaking of Bouzouki. Chris Thile (Nickel Creek) plays one on "The Smoothie Song".

Other instruments on this track are violin, Accoustic Guitar and arco bass.

That Portuguese mandolin is intriguing. Under $100. I've seen that same mandolin for >$200 at an importer's website. So, I guess you save a lot going directly to the maker (assuming shipping isn't too brutal). So tempting!

Wink

Instrument type: Piano
Model: Upright
Brand or Maker: Krause
Year Built: 1901
Did you get it? My parents gave it to me for my 6th birthday and it's still going strong 9 years later!
What is so great about it? It is 105 years old and looks great and sounds great! The only problem is, is that it' sstarting to fall apart now and I was trying to look for the number under the front hoo dthing, and it fell and crushed 8 hammers on the far right side of the scale (the higher notes) so when ever I'm reading music and have to play there, I expect it, but there's no sound. But over all, it's my Best Friend Forever!!!
