Transposing music
I am 11 years old and have been playing the alto sax 1 1/2 years. I'm fairly new at transposing music. I am trying to transpose Peter Gunn (by Henry Mancini) two octaves higher than it is (key of D major) but, am having troubles because the melody is in both treble and base cleff. Does anyone have any pointers?

Most do it the old-fashioned way..... Get some manuscript and start transcribing. I can tell you how to do it if you want.

First of all, you want the music to be played in ine clef. If you have any piano exp. it would help alot. If not, it will take some time but eventually you'll get it and it won't be so hard.

How would I transpose something in G? A lady at church wants me to play something for her but I can't cuz it's got a sharp and I can't play sharps very well.

The easy way is to turn the hymnbook upside down. The hard way is....

Ok I'll try it. If it doesn't work I'll come crying to you, ok?
