Horn solo suggestions?
I am having difficulty choosing a recital piece for Horn and piano. Besides the Mozart concerto...and Jesu...(which I have both and love them)...I can't find much...
Anyone have any suggestions?

Hello reebs and thank you for your post.
Well, actually at the moment we don't have much more repertoire for horn and piano for a recital. When do you have it? Just to know it...
Thank you again.
Sincerely,

LOL...not for a year yet...we just had our adult recital February 25th. I played an old 70's song by Bread..."If"...which is lovely, but I want to play classical. I played Mozart K545 on piano, and on flute, I played "Nadia's Theme", aka: "The Young and the Restless".
I can find lots for flute, and piano. Horn is a bit limited. I'm also hunting for horn, flute and piano trios, since I play duets with my friend. She plays flute, also.

Suggestion
Why don't you try the Struass Horn Waltzes?

I wonder if you're confusing two different Strausses here? Richard Strauss wrote two horn concerti, and Johann Strauss wrote waltzes.
I don't think there are any 'horn waltzes' per se by either.
The Strauss horn concerti are fun!

Thank you all for the suggestions. I will try them all. I have a whole year to practice. Yay! LOL...
Oh...I play on an old Reynolds single horn in F. I want to get a double horn. (I have my eye on a Conn 8DR). Is playing a double better than a single? Is the transition all that difficult?
Thank you all for your kind replies.

Well, I see... do you have any preferred title to suggest us you'd like to have it published here first? Any your preference is very welcome.
Thank you again!

Reebs: A double horn will be able to take MUCH farther than a single horn ever will. Yes, it will take some adjusting but it's definatley worth it!
Sue: I think I got those mixed up...

Edit to this post: I just found out yesterday that we will have a second recital this year, in September. Which means, I need to find music! LOL. Also, I've decided against "Jesu"..
What about "Air on the G String", or "Canon in D" for horn, flute and piano? Something lovely and classical is what my friend and I are looking for.
As far as Horn and Piano....hm...Wagner, excerpts from "Ring des Nibelungen" for Horn and Piano?
YKB...THANK YOU THANK YOU for your input on the double horn. On my single, I can get the low F, and the high F, (2 octaves) but poor old Reynolds just refuses to go higher. LOL.
