dirty words
Hi All,
I just was wondering... How come most things to do with classical music, you hear a few people swearing? Like to conductor or other players? Sorry, I was just wondering, its sort of just blows me away when they do it!
Excuse any spelling errors.

I'm not sure about the classical world in particular, but I know there are a lot of people who don't think much of swearing.

Lol, they're a lot of people who think otherwise. I don't think you should feel more surprised when the conducter of a classical orchestra cusses then when a rock group's lead singer cusses; they're both going to be stressed during performances.

While I don't care for swearing myself, I find it's usually pretty easy to ignore.

I see your difficulty. I had pretty good luck with my only experience with a stand partner and conductor. Both were very nice.

Lucky You!
God, I have had screaming conductors
crying players
a huge bowl of punch (a drink) for after concert drinks dummped on the keys of piano
other players talking about weird things like nothing ever right to mention at rehearsal!!!!!!!!!!
Pizza delivered to the concert hall on the wrong day or wrong time!
Welcome to the musical world friends!

Ouch, I think my conductor/band director in college should be pretty nice. I talked to her some and she seems ok. I haven't seen her under stress though.
