Hello... I have always enjoyed my membership and want to thank you for providing us all with such a variety of music... Even though I am 75 yrs. young, I am new to the violin and received my long wished for one on my birthday!... I was looking at the content of the Violin Package and noticed that a lot of the music was for more than one instrument and I will be playing solo all of the time... is all of this (more than one instrument) music conducive to playing solo?... Thanks ahead of time for the reply... blessings

Dear Annie, first of all, congratulations for your "young" age indeed!

And thank you for your kind message, I am so glad to know you are enjoy your violin package. To answer your question, yes, I am aware that many pieces are for violin and other instruments, but you can still enjoy that music with your violin by playing it "solo", mostly if we have provided Mp3 accompaniment files for those ensemble titles. Take the duets for example, those are a lot of fun to play accompanied by the computer.

Please, let me know if this answers your question or you need any further information/help, I'll be glad to chat with you again!

My best wishes.

I was wondering if this sheet can be played by a left-handed person.
reply
Fabrizio Ferrari - moderator and CEO, on December 2, 2015 @2:56 pm PST
Of course, the violin can be played by left-handed people, some of my violinist friend are left-handed and they are brilliant violinists.

Please, let me know if you have any more questions. Thank you!
Barbie * VSM MEMBER * on August 4, 2015 @6:00 pm PST
Fabrizio,
Does the violin package include on the DVD's how to correctly play the music, or is it a picture of the music or performance of the musician. I am not sure what is on the DVD's. Please help!

Do you have plans to offer something like this for other instruments?
reply
Fabrizio Ferrari - moderator and CEO, on April 1, 2015 @9:04 am PST
Well... that depends by many requests we receive. We received some number of requests for the cello, but not as many for other instruments. What instrument would you be interested in?
tcmschlosser * VSM MEMBER * on April 1, 2015 @9:22 am PST
Clarinet. This package sounds wonderful and I would be interested. I put in a lot of requests for music to be done for Clarinet in general.
Fabrizio Ferrari - moderator and CEO, on April 1, 2015 @4:05 pm PST
Thank you so much for your feedback! I am glad to know you would be interested in a package dedicated to the clarinet. Could you please tell me more about what you wrote:

1. Are you more interested in having all clarinet repertoire on DVDs, or to have a clarinet method for beginners (similarly to the Violin Basics printed book included in the violin package)?

2. You wrote you put a lot of requests for clarinet music: did you do that through our automatic request system throughout the website or by contacting us by email? I am asking this because I'd like to know what you requested, and how we have filed those requests. I could look into that. If you could tell me the titles you have requested, that will help furthermore.

Thank you again.
tcmschlosser * VSM MEMBER * on April 1, 2015 @4:55 pm PST
1. If I'm reading the description correctly for this package, it sounds like it covers beginners to advanced players. I have been playing the clarinet for over 20 years, and could always go back to the basics! :-)
2. When I pull up a piece that is not for clarinet, I click the link to request that piece for clarinet. Some I even ask for a clarinet quartet (as I play in that too!) Unfortunately, I can't remember all that have requested to be put into clarinet. I've not been a member for very long and have been just looking around.

As a side note, I love that most of the music comes with a midi / mp3 file...this is really helpful, the only request I would have is that there be just an accompaniment file to go with it - without the main instrument. I'm playing in a wedding and to not have just the accompaniment file is making it kind of difficult.

Really wish I had found this website a LONG time a go! I do like it!
Fabrizio Ferrari - moderator and CEO, on April 2, 2015 @8:18 am PST
Thank you very much for your reply. I'll look into our clarinet requests to see what actually you might have requested for clarinet quartet, but I know we put some new upcoming clarinet productions in our pipeline.

As for Mp3 accompaniment files, those should be available for nearly all pieces for solo instrument with piano accompaniment. Wedding collections with piano accompaniment, should all have Mp3 accompaniment files... please, let me know what collection you are looking into and we'll make Mp3 accompaniment files for you. Thank you again.

Hi, the piano accompaniment in this DVD package is MIDI? or they have been recorded with the real piano with pianist?
Thank you,
Ehsan From Rome
reply
Fabrizio Ferrari - moderator and CEO, on December 11, 2013 @6:57 am PST
Hi Ehsan, and thank you for your question.

Yes, the Mp3 audio accompaniments are high quality, computer generated. Not real recordings. They have been conceived for practice purposes, and with the fact their tempo is "perfect", it is an excellent tool for practicing music. Please, let me know if you have any further questions.

what is the benefit for a beginner as opposed to just getting music from the site, I am a member

Fabrizio Ferrari - moderator and CEO, on September 18, 2013 @5:05 pm PST
Hello and thank you for your question.

Well, as a Member you can download from our website all the contents included on the DVDs inside the package. The additional benefits of the violin package is that you have everything on 4 DVDs for off-line enjoyment (so, even without Internet Connection, you have all your archives on DVD) and may also be a strong "back-up" copy of everything you may download from our website. Besides that, you also find 4 printed sheet music books of our most famous violin pieces, as well as a printed copy of my violin book "Basics of Violin Playing".

Please, let me know if you have any further questions. Thank you again for your interest and music passion!

Hi there,
I was wondering if it's possible to buy the DVDs separately (that is, all of them but in separate shippings) since otherwise I'd have to pay customs in Europe (which involves a lot of hassle driving to the customs office rather far away, queuing, and paying about 25% of the package value...). Or does it ship as books? Because then it'd be customs free up to about 100 Euros or so. Thanks

Fabrizio Ferrari - moderator and CEO, on July 24, 2013 @10:05 am PST
Hi! I am very sorry, but at the moment what you are suggesting is not possible. The package ships inside a single box. Anyway, are you sure you have to pay customs for this kind of merchandise? We had many customers in Europe and they had to pay nothing.
Lillian on June 17, 2013 @6:59 am PST
i would like you to show me how to teach preschoolers how to play the violin.
reply
Fabrizio Ferrari - moderator and CEO, on June 17, 2013 @10:49 am PST
Hi Lillian and thank you for your question.

In my book "Basics of Violin Playing" which is included in the package and can be purchased separately as an e-book at the link below:

http://www.virtualsheetmusic.com/score/ViolinBasics.html

I explain what is the best approach for little children to play the violin, and it can be summarized in this way:

1. Keeping the violin in a correct position is a challenge for little children, so more frequent rests are needed (every 5-10 minutes?).

2. The overall study/lesson session shouldn't be longer than 30 minutes, best time is probably around 15-20 minutes.

3. The bow should be approached and handled in a different way than adults (see my book on page 12) to ease grip and handling.

4. Repertoire must be completely different to favorite ease and fun and foster overall interest in violin playing from the beginning.

I wish I could make a video on this... maybe Lora Staples could tackle this issue in one of her upcoming videos. I suggest you to post your question to her on her dedicated page below:

http://www.virtualsheetmusic.com/experts/lora/

Thank you again and good luck with your teaching!

Sincerely,
Fabrizio
