I'm an intermediate cellist (30+ years playing but not a lot of technical training), and was looking for a 2 vln/vc arrangement of Canon for a wedding. Neither of the violinists can transpose (eg from a viola part) so I was happy to find exactly the instrumentation we needed, and the price is reasonable.
The arrangement generally has a nice balance in the parts (it's the first Canon arrangement I've seen where the cello gets some melodic interest). There are a couple of places where the arrangement feels a little thin, or a little repetitive. We needed only a short version, so we just dropped measures in the few places it felt like it wasn't working. Other than that I like it very well - hard to go wrong with this well loved classic.[this review is about Canon in D & Gigue (parts), included in this item]
