Despite a few awkward spots and one typo, a good transcription. Very clearly printed, OK page turns.

Thank you James for your review, I am glad to know you like the transcription. Since I made it, could you please tell me where you found your mentioned "awkward spots"? I'd like to review any work I have made for possible improvement, so any feedback is very welcome. Thank you again.

Wow, it's wonderful that email enables this conversation!
I'm a professional violist with only modest ability on the piano. I bought your EKN transcription for my daughter and mailed the printed copy to her after reading through it once. So I don't have any way now to count measures or otherwise locate particular spots for comment.
The "awkward spots" I referred to are no criticism of your talents but rather have to do with the inherent physical limits of the instruments involved. For example, pianists can't modulate the volume of sustained notes, the EKN instruments can; violins and violas can't play the low bass notes on a piano, and so on.
I do have one query: In the C minor section of the Romanze, the strings have repeated 16th-note thirds and other intervals that you opened up to single-note sequences. I wonder why you didn't keep the intervals as written, which I think would have more closely retained the texture of the original without placing an undue burden on the performer. What am I missing?
In short, many thanks for your very capable transcription.

Dear James, you are most than welcome! Thank you for replying back.

I am glad to know you didn't find any actual "mistakes", sometimes that may happen and I like to jump right on it and fix any possible typos or wrong notes I may have missed. But I do understand what you mean, and I agree with you, unfortunately it is not easy to "reduce" the original multi-instrumental version into a single piano version without losing the depth and the texture of the original string quartet version. I tried to do my best!

As for your mentioned passage in the Romanza, yes, I actually remember that part and I thought long enough how to put it down, but while trying to play it, I felt the need to break up the chords. Maybe because I am not a professional pianist, but after a while I got too tired of repeat chords instead to break them up as a sort of "melody"... but of course I could have done as you were suggesting, my choice was purely based on "practical", technical feeling.

Thank you again for your feedback, and I hope your daughter will enjoy it!

Please, feel always free to contact me with any questions or ideas you may have, I will be glad to hear from you. Have a great rest of your week!
