Beethoven: The great-great-great-grandfather of bluegrass
by C. J. Andersonon September 15th, 2011
Beethoven's Sonatina in C is doubly surprising: first in that it's a mandolin piece written by a young man who became famous mostly for piano pieces and second: that it's in a form that bluegrass musicians will clearly recognize as a "hornpipe."
Virtual Sheet Music is a wonderful source when one needs a rare score in a hurry.

Beethoven Mandolin Sonatina - charming
by Marika Fischer Hoyton June 19th, 2007
I bought this for my daughter to play on violin. We're familiar with the piece because a version of it was included on 'Beethoven's Wig #3' by Richard Perlmutter. The Beethoven's Wig series features classical tunes with extremely clever lyrics added, to make them more accessible to children and adults alike.
My daughter's been studying violin for three years, and this Sonatina is about her level.
