Fabrizio, I have a laptop with a Windows 11 Pro OS. That is the primary computer I would be using. I also might use my wife's Galazy Tab A tablet, depends on how I can set up my practice station. Thanks for your response. - Sidney

Thank you Sidney. Well, as I wrote below, you can always use the built-in interactive video here on VSM.

Otherwise, for your Windows-based PC, you can use any video player. You can download from the web and install it on your PC. Here is a list of the free ones:

https://www.google.com/search?q=windows+free+video+player

Once you have installed the video program, you can download our video files on your computer and open them with that program. Please, let me know if you need any help with that.

I hope this helps!

I have been thinking about using the play along videos to learn some new pieces. Are there instructions online about how to use the mp3/mp4 files, or any other audio/visual files that can get me started?
reply
Fabrizio Ferrari - moderator and CEO, on January 3, 2024 @10:23 am PST
Hello Sidney and thank you for your inquiry.

If you plan to use our play-along videos offered here on VSM, you can simply use our interactive video player, which works inside any browser or on any device connected to the Internet.

Otherwise, I could suggest several solutions if you want to use the files offline with a different program. If you could tell me your used system (PC, Mac, etc.) and device (computer, tablet, etc.), I'll be happy to give you more tips.

I look forward to hearing from you.

All the best,

Can you explain the difference between grace notes with a slash through the stem vs those without?
Thanks
reply
Fabrizio Ferrari - moderator and CEO, on August 24, 2023 @4:44 pm PST
Hi Hank and thank you for your inquiry.

Of course, I'll be happy to help.

The noted with a slash through as called "acciaccaturas" whereas the ones without slash are called "appoggiaturas."

The difference between them is that the former is usually played as an upbeat, whereas the latter is played on beat.

You can learn more about those and other ornaments in this video of ours:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3gMhJfp4O90

I hope this helps!

Please, let me know if you have any further questions or concerns.

Dennis, I have realized now that we actually already have that piece, it is just called a little bit differently, but I guess it is the same you are looking for:

Please, let me know if that's the one.

Thank you again.

Looking for Centone di sonate paganini For Violin AND Cello. I have Vln-Guitar version. Old member in yrs past.

Fabrizio Ferrari - moderator and CEO, on February 21, 2021 @5:23 pm PST
Hi Robert and thank you for your inquiry!

I am so glad to see you back here on VSM Smiley Face

The Centone di Sonate look like being originally written for violin and guitar, so I guess you are looking for a transcription of those for violin and cello. Is my assumption correct? Please, let me know.

If so, at the moment we don't have them available, but we can definitively consider getting them published in the future (despite I am afraid I can't give you a precise time-frame).

Please, let me know if you are actually looking for a simple transcription from the original ones for violin and guitar.

Thanks again.

As a violinist who mostly plays for church, I have made several arrangements of hymns and/or praise songs for violin and piano. I am wondering if your company can help me find an appropriate venue for publishing my arrangements. The arrangements are accessible for those comfortable with 3rd position, and often use two or more hymntunes used for the same text.

Fabrizio Ferrari - moderator and CEO, on April 7, 2020 @9:05 am PST
Dear Norma, thank you for your posted inquiry and my apologies for our late reply, for some reason your comment was missed.

First of all, congratulations on writing such arrangements, that's fantastic. Unfortunately at the moment we don't have a program on VSM which would allow you to have your music published on our site, but I can suggest looking on sheetmusicplus.com:

https://smppress.sheetmusicplus.com/

They do have a program that I think it might be what you are looking for.

Please, let me know if you have any further questions.

My best wishes,

Dear Brian,
Thank you for your inquiry.

To better understand your needs, what kind of repertoire are you looking for? Something for the Christmas or Holidays celebration, or just part of the classical genre? Please, let me know. I'll be happy to give you some useful suggestions.

All the best,
BrianClarke * VSM MEMBER * on December 23, 2019 @6:42 am PST
Many thanks Fabrizio for your prompt reply. Simple classical arrangements. These people are adults who never played before and now are enjoying the opportunity. Some have made good progress while others not so. Virtual sheet music has been a great well of material. I was wondering what you would suggest with your expert knowledge. As an aside I have found your violin manual to be an exceptional effort. It is light years ahead of any I have used prior to this. All the best for Christmas and the New Year to you and your family. Brian.

Dear Brian, you are most welcome! Glad to help, at any time. I am also very happy to know you found VSM valuable for your musical needs, that's awesome and I love to read that.

Ok, here are some suggestions for you. I am not sure about your ensemble skill level, but I'll try to give you a mixed set of good pieces to try at easy-intermediate skill level. The pieces below can be easily played with either a string quartet or a string orchestra. If you also have wind instruments, please, let me know, I'll see what to suggest to you on that front.

Would there be a collection of traditional violin music played by the travelling musicians of Ireland once known as Tinkers?
reply
Fabrizio Ferrari - moderator and CEO, on October 30, 2019 @9:11 am PST
Thank you Margaret for your inquiry.

At the moment, the only Irish collection we have is our Saint Patrick's Collection available for several instruments and ensembles:

https://www.virtualsheetmusic.com/Patrick.html

But we will think about a future collection more in the style you are suggesting.

Thank you for your feedback and inquiry again, always appreciated!

Hi Valerie and thank you for your inquiry. Are you talking about a PDF file? If so, you can either use Adobe's Acrobat Reader:

https://get.adobe.com/reader/

Or the Preview application if you are on a Mac, which is installed by default (just double click on your PDF file and it should be opened in Preview)

Please, let me know if that solves your problem or you are talking about something else.

Thank you again.
