Hi, this is Robert Estrin at Today, the question is: Is it good to play the piano first thing in the morning?

It's a funny thing, when I get up, first thing I do is I usually go to the piano, a lot of times before I've even gotten dressed, truth be know. Usually after a whole night, I've got all kinds of musical ideas percolating in my head and they come out. I figured today I would go ... well, I did get dressed, so that's a good thing ... but I'm going to go play for you what's going on in my head after a whole night of just sleeping. All right? Hopefully, it will be something interesting for you.

There's a little ditty for you, something off the top of my head. I guess it came from my dreams, or my deep sleep. The question, we'll never know. I hope you've enjoyed it here.

Once again, Robert Estrin at, your online piano store.

Sounds great! I also find that when I go to the piano in the early morning I'm more creative than I am later in the day. I think Horace Silver used to write a new song every morning. Thanks for reminding me that I need to get to the piano more often in the mornings!

Some people work best in the morning while others are night owls. Whatever works for you is best!

Your creation was great. Now for another question, since I have zero creativity. Is there a better time of the day for memorising music? I think it could be last thing at night before going to bed. Then repeat that piece first thing in the morning.
