Question String trios

I'm looking for ideas for repertoire for three of my high school students who want to put together a string trio. I know lots of repertoire for duets and quartets, but am not familiar with string trio repertoire.

Anyone have any suggestions - any ideas are welcome!

Hello Kurt.

Did you have a look at our String Trio repertoire? Any preferred piece?

Thank you for your posting.

All the best,

I have given them the Handel Arioso...but they didn't like it because "It's too slow." Then we took a look at Fate, but the difficulty level is enough beyond them that they were frustrated.

I'm considering stealing a few clarinet trios from the band director and rewriting them... I'm going to run some of the tunes from the wedding collection by them again, as well. I think seeing the word "wedding" turned them off - so maybe if I just pull them out as individual pieces...

If I knew what trios were available at a medium- to- medium-advanced difficulty level, I could give some suggestions...but since I've never played in a trio, I'm floundering in the dark a bit.

I understand... by the way, if you find a title you like to string quartet or any other ensemble, we can consider to transcribe it for string trio, just let me know your preferences.

Thank you again.

Best,
