Actually, I agree with most everything you said...I personally play more classical than jazz. And I, too, think it's mighty strange to be transcribing improv...but it IS pretty fun to study stuff other great artists of your instrument have thought up. Personally, I think trumpets DO sound better when being played for jazz and more contemporary things...and it IS a nice genre to at least get yourself acquanted with, even if it's not sifted out and it's only temporary. Lol. I can totally relate, Loren!!!! I agree, trumpets do sound better in jazz although I don't listen to jazz much. Not that I don't like it, I do, but i just don't have any jazz music. I'll have to get some.
