Rating: 4 Nice arrangement but difficult by on June 29, 2014 @2:23 pm PST
This was a lovely arrangement with nice dynamics and phrasing, but quite high notes for the violin 1 part. Worked well with 2 violins as opposed to the 4 part versions.

The sheet music is great! I would've been nice if the parts were separated vs in a score form.

Very nice arrangement. I like how it gives violin II a lot of melody - which I play on viola. Best duet arrangement that I have found.

I am playing this piece at a wedding with my 7 year old daughter.
It's wonderful to find Canon in D for two violins.
Sometimes putting a full quartet in place is simply not an option I feel the cello piece is essential to Canon.
Nothing beats the original, but this was very good.
Rating: 4 A fine arrangement by on May 13, 2009 @4:37 pm PST
My wife and I could not find an arrangement for two violins of Canon in D anywhere locally. Thankfully we were able to get it through VSM with plenty of time to practice for my uncle's wedding.

It's a solid arrangement, the second violin slightly easier than the first, and the first has limited 3rd-5th position. It's not difficult, but neither it is entirely faithful to the original piece; I've played more challenging arrangements of Pachelbel's Canon. It is pretty, though, and does the job.

I don't know that everyone would agree with my assessment of Easy/Medium; a virtuoso could find it staggeringly easy, while a beginner would not be able to manage it at all. I've played since age 6 (28 now), but have been largely out of practice for years, so perhaps that helps gauge things.

Recommended for anyone needing a treble-clef duet of Canon.
Rating: 5 Very Beautiful, and Still a Challenge by on March 31, 2009 @2:40 pm PST
This is a very beautiful arangement of one of my favorite cannons, and yet at the same time I found it very challenging to learn. It would probably be best for a more advanced violinist, but it's also good for a challenge to students who are learning new positions.
It doesn't have any fingerings written over the notes, so you can play it in whatever position you feel comfortable with, but that also means you have to figure out the fingering yourself. I think the highest position neccesary to play is sixth position.
I thought it was hard, because I've never played in a any positions higher than third position. I'm not used to playing that high, but I think it was good for me to try new things. This song challenged me to keep learning, even when it's tough, and I'm sure when I finish learning this song,it will be so beautiful, it will be worth all the time it took to learn those difficult positions.

There are no proposed fingerings for positions. There seems to be too many pages for the Cannon. It would be difficult to pass that out at orchestra. Should have some repeats or codas to bring it down to at most 4 sheets.

I was searching for an arrangement of this piece for two violins to use at an outdoor wedding. One violinist is very good, the other one is so-so. The arranagement works very well in this situation. I was pleased to find it. Thank you!
