Upbeat, challenging piece for thumb position beginners. Also reinforces counting and scale skills, all in music that is actually pleasant to practice!

This piece is one of my all time favorites. The two Haydn concerti, there's a D maj, are the only cello concertos that are actually happy, whew finally, no minor keys! As can be expected of a master like haydn, this piece is perfectly suited to the cello. However this is one of those tricky things you'll definetly need to take to a teacher. The first mov. is great fun to improvise with and jazz up. The 2nd is a happy adagio, and the 3rd is VERY fast. You'll NEED those SCALES.
