 | Nice arrangement, slightly tricky position work by anonymous on August 7th, 2007 |
| This is a nice arrangement of a classic piece, with good use of high positions on low strings to create a fuller sound. The position work suggested is therefore on the tricky side but manageable (for me, a decent amateur player). The piece could however be played in simpler positions if required. | | | Salut d'amour Op. 12: solo violin by dr. robert h. brick on May 21st, 2007 |
| I am an advanced violinist who enjoyed the lightness of this composition. There are at least two versions of Elgar's "Salut d'Amour" for violin. I find Laura Caldera's version to be more pleasing to the ear, in part, because of its D major key designation (the other one in C major) and is therefore played in slightly higher registers than its twin. The piece is not without technical challenges, what with its higher tempo ending that requires multiple sharps along the way. I drew inspiration from Itzhak Pearlmans's recent recital of Salut as part of the Queen's visit to the U.S. a few weeks ago. | | | Lovely by anonymous on April 27th, 2007 |
