Toccata from Symphony5 - Widor  by on April 9th, 2010
Thank you for a Very Prompt Reply - as I am in Australia, I Thought it would take much longer. It is well spread out, with each bar taking a full line, and plenty of space for my hints to myself !!(I was taught the modern/jazz organ mainly by chords, so there was ample space to enter each chord/pedals) There didn't seem to be a lot of pedalwork, so I added more, myself -- As it is 20+ pages, it will probably take time to master it (if ever). Do you also cater for modern Organ/Piano Works e.g Broadway, modern songs ?

Wonderful  by (MEMBER) on April 28th, 2009
This piece is one of the greatest organ toccatas in my opinion. It is also a good test of strength for your fingers and arms. It was played as the processional for my late husband's funeral in 2007. It was a most fitting piece for a talented man, George Beverst, who was not only a good organist, superb pianist but also one of the best piano and organ tuners around. He was also a published composer of several books of organ music as well as various chorales. He arranged hundreds of pieces for the German choruses he directed. Wayne State university in Detroit graduated a very talented man. The Widor Toccata from Symphony No. 5 gave him a fantastic send off.

A magnificent piece  by on February 8th, 2009
One of the greatest Organ pieces ever written. You need to be a competent organist, but if you are looking for a challenging piece, with practice and determination, an intermediate player could still enjoy learning this piece. I say that because performing it with accuracy is just as effective even if you're only playing it at a medium speed. Not for the beginner. Excellent quality PDF file and very easy to print with no layout problems.

Inspiring...  by on August 13th, 2007
Thank you for presenting the full version for audition! This piece was played by our church organist at the end of my father's memorial service and what a thrilling send off it was! unfortunately, we did not hear the entire performance. P.S. Dad was a dance band leader who started off playing theater organ for the silent movies in Los Angeles back in the early 1930s. Howard Devron had a most fitting send off with Vidor's Tocatta from Symphony No. 5.! Is there a version of the symphony that features a world class organist? Thanks for sharing the entire performance. I might learn it afterall. L.A. Devron

Wonderful!  by on January 27th, 2007
This is the first time I have heard this played fully since walking down the aisle nearly 25 years ago to my wedding. It is truly an amazing piece of music, thank you for allowing me to listen to it in this way.

My Review of "C.M.Widor: Toccata"  by on August 24th, 2006
I have always wanted to play this peice and it is the best organ peice I have probley ever heard. I am only 12 but I play the organ in my school chapel with a 2-manual organ. I always ask people who are better at me to play this peice. I would reccomend this peice to anyone of any age to try it. I would also reccomend 8 little Preludes and Fuges by J.S.Bach book 1, It is also a good peice and both of these peices are able to be played on a 2-manual organ

Widor's Ants Fueled by Dew  by on May 24th, 2006
Listening to Widor's Toccata from Symphony #5 is like watching a colony of ants fueled by Mountain Dew. Our church organist played this piece for our celebration of Church Music Sunday. After both services, she was met with a standing ovation. Quite a feat coming from a small, Iowa, Lutheran congregation. I had the pleasure of listening to her practice while painting scenery for the church's children's musical. And I have to say, that my paintbrush literally danced across the canvas everytime I hear it played. I've asked her to audio tape it for me, so when I'm riding my bicycle I'll have just the song to get me those last few miles. A must have purchase for any church or organist looking for a musical challenge. I appreciated being able to listen to the entire piece; as her rendition only spanned about 5 pages.
