 | TENOR CLEF!?! by anonymous on October 22nd, 2008 |
| I like the way it sounds, but there are some poor writing techniques. The trombone and tuba jump all around for no real reason (descending ocatave to an ascending minor 7th to a descending 5th). It's not super hard for my bone player, but it makes him work more than necessary for this piece. It seems like the same harmonies could be achieved in other voices to avoid such big jumps. Also, the bone part is mostly written in tenor clef, but it only goes up to a G above the staff (4th position right above the 5th partial). Many arrangers use alto or tenor clef to avoid writing on so many ledger lines - this is just laziness. Nonetheless, I like the overall sound after writing in bass clef notation. | Add your own review!
