Ilyinsky Review  by on June 20th, 2014
I first learnt this piece when I was about 12 years old - 47 years ago. I think it was the first piano piece that inspired me - I remember playing it over and over. I eventually went on to study piano at university. It's a great exercise for introducing younger students to playing predominantly on the black keys - lots of kids wrongly fear pieces with lots of sharps and flats. The lullaby nature of the piece is also very appealing - the A section is soft and warm - the contrasting B section has a Russian sternness. The VIRTuAL edition is easy to read because it's spread over 3 pages and well laid out . Nice.
