How can I edit the VSM repertoire with it?
  • Look for the "Open in Playground" (or just "Playground") blue button to open enabled titles into the Playground. Try with the first collection of our basic Christmas Carols to see how it works (if you are not a Member, you may have limited access to that title).
  • Request to enable new titles by clicking on the "Request Playground" (or just "Playground") button on any VSM item's page.
  • Search for "VSM Playground" on the site to find titles already enabled.
Join our mailing list to stay updated with its development and be notified as soon as a new feature is released. Feel free to contact us with any questions, suggestions, or ideas or post your comments below.

How do I upload a pdf of a music piece that has several pages at one time. My last project I uploaded the pages individually. Is there a way to upload all the pages and once for transposition?
reply
Fabrizio Ferrari - moderator and CEO, on April 26, 2025 @10:39 am PST
Hi Tricia. Yes, of course, you can drag a PDF file up to 20 pages if I remember correctly. What's important is that the number of systems and staves remains consistent between pages; otherwise, the system can get confused.

Please let me know if you have any further questions or concerns.

I'm not sure how to describe this problem but here goes. The files I'm working with have several pages. Each page was uploaded to my computer separately. I tried putting them in one folder and uploading the entore folder to the playground but that didn't work. So how do I get all the pages to upload as one song?
Fabrizio Ferrari - moderator and CEO, on April 26, 2025 @1:43 pm PST
Oh, now I understand. Well, the system is not able to read multiple files at once for now, so you should combine those files into a single PDF file.

You can use a free service like this one:

https://www.adobe.com/acrobat/online/merge-pdf.html

Then upload the combined file. Please let me know if that works Winky Face

How do I add lyrics? I was hoping the if the lyrics were on the original sheet music they would transfer to the piece when uploaded.
reply
Fabrizio Ferrari - moderator and CEO, on April 21, 2025 @2:24 pm PST
You can just add lyrics by moving the mouse where you want to add the lyric, then click your mouse button and "Lyric".

Please let me know if you have any further questions or concerns.

I had no problem with a menu popping up when I put the cursor on a note....that was helpful I didn't know the ability to change individual notes was available, BUT I placed the cursor on several places to add the lyrics and no menu popped up with "lyric" as an option.

Fabrizio Ferrari - moderator and CEO, on April 22, 2025 @7:40 am PST
Patricia, we have just released a new version that allows you to add Lyrics by just clicking on a note. Once you click on a note, you can "Lyrics" at the bottom of the options list.

I hope that helps!
Fabrizio Ferrari - moderator and CEO, on April 21, 2025 @5:06 pm PST
Patricia, make sure you have the latest version of the Playground we have recently released. Please reload your page and try again. Sometimes web browsers are slow to catch-up new updated pages Winky Face

Let me know if that works for you!

How long does it usually take for an uploaded pdf to process ? Mine has been at 25% progress for 30 minutes.
reply
Fabrizio Ferrari - moderator and CEO, on April 21, 2025 @2:02 pm PST
Hi Tricia and thank you for your inquiry.

It shouldn't take more than 3 minutes, actually, 5 minutes max. Something must have gone wrong.

How long is your PDF file? Please let me know.
Patricia * VSM MEMBER * on April 21, 2025 @4:45 pm PST
Thank you, I finally got tired of waiting and closed it down and started over. No problems getting it to process after that.
Fabrizio Ferrari - moderator and CEO, on April 21, 2025 @5:06 pm PST
Ok good! I am sorry it got stuck at first. Please let me know if you encounter any other issues.

I don't find video introductions helpful. Do you do print versions of the instructions for using Playground
reply
Fabrizio Ferrari - moderator and CEO, on April 16, 2025 @7:57 am PST
I am sorry about that Roy. At the moment, we don't have printed instructions for the Playground, but we'll consider making them available even though its functionalities should be pretty intuitive.

What are you trying to accomplish? Please let me know, I'll be happy to help you.

Hello, would I be able to upload my own music in pdf and have it transposed to a new key?
reply
Fabrizio Ferrari - moderator and CEO, on April 8, 2025 @10:01 am PST
Yes, Sung, that's one of the features of the Playground. Don't expect it to be 100% accurate, though. The quality of the imported music from PDF or images can vary greatly according to the quality of the source. If your music is digitally engraved and not scanned from hard copy, it works pretty well. Also, make sure the number of instruments is consistent throughout the imported pages, and I suggest importing a single piece at a time.

Let me know how it works for you.

It would be nice to be able to correct in real time some of the notational errors that I've found in parts that were originally composed for violin, but have since been changed to cello and viola tessituras, Sometimes the issue is the registration, and other times, it is wrong notes in the parts.

Fabrizio Ferrari - moderator and CEO, on February 27, 2025 @7:51 pm PST
Of course, we are working right now on an update that will allow to move and notes. Stay tuned!
Beep * VSM MEMBER * on February 27, 2025 @3:43 pm PST
If I were to want to play the Mendelssohn Violin Em Concerto on the cello, the transposition into treble, bass and tenor clefs of small sections would be imperative. Likewise, on viola, it isn't about just the ability to reach a note, but to not break up phrases. Again, switching clefs throughout, and octive shifting sections is needed.

I hear you and understand perfectly. We'll work to allow the addition and removal of clefs wherever you like! Thank you for your provided feedback.

I want to make practice tracks for my community choir. When two voices, say Sop & Alto, share a staff, how can I separate voice 1 from voice 2? It would be easy to do in MuseScore if the top notes were all classified as voice 1 (maybe with all stems up). Has anyone already programmed something like this?
reply
Fabrizio Ferrari - moderator and CEO, on January 26, 2025 @7:12 pm PST
Hi Marc and thank you for your inquiry. That's something our Playground is unable to do yet, but we'll certainly work on such a feature in a future version of it.

At the moment only more advanced notational programs can do that (like Sibelius, Dorico, etc.) I'll definitively let you know when our playground will be able to help with that.

Please let me know if you have any further questions or concerns.

All the best,
Sandy Cohen * VSM MEMBER * on January 14, 2025 @8:47 am PST
Love the program.
Can you add an edit feature so that we
can edit the music note by note?
Thank you
reply
Fabrizio Ferrari - moderator and CEO, on January 14, 2025 @8:54 am PST
Thank you Sandy, I am glad you like it!

We are working on that. It will be released step-by-step, but we plan to release the ability to change notes in a "basic" way in the coming weeks.

I'll definitely let you know when such a new feature will be released.

Please let me know if you have any further questions or ideas to share.
