Bio The German composer and teacher Johann Pachelbel was considered one of the great organ masters of the middle Baroque period just prior to J.S. Bach's generation. Pachelbel wrote numerous sacred and secular works, including over 200 works for the organ. He is regarded as an important contributor to the development of the chorale prelude and fugue. He is best remembered, however, for his popular and widely performed chamber piece Canon in D major for three violins and basso continuo.
