Video TranscriptionHere we are at the Grammy Museum and we're going inside and checking this out. Let's see what's in store for us. All kinds of musical styles here. And crazy exhibits where you get to record yourself. Do you have any idea what these things do? I have no idea. People seem to be enjoying it though for some reason. It really is a who's who in the music industry. What's really cool if you could be here, you can listen to the progression of recording through the ages and listen to the artists the way they actually sounded on the recordings. A lot of music going on here at the Grammy Museum here in Los Angeles, California. The Minimoog. It brings back memories from when I played in bands. I had a Minimoog and that's the one instrument I wish I had never sold. You get to see the progression of music technology and recording technology and what's so crazy is that the technology actually got way worse at a couple of points. You start off in the 1800s, wax cylinders and 78 RPM and of course it progresses and it gets better and better but then at a certain point it goes to cassette and the quality goes way down and then it gets better again and then MP3 comes in and once again it degrades in quality. Of course now immersive sound, Dolby Atmos is the ultimate recording where you really feel like you're there. So it was really interesting being able to hear the different technologies that music has gone through. And the other thing that I find really interesting is some of the great recordings of all time made on 78 RPM keep getting better every year as recording and audio restoration technology improves. So we can look forward to hearing Rachmaninoff and some of the great artists from Caruso and those old scratchy recordings are going to be state of the art at some point in the future because they keep getting better and better. What a day. Not in Cleveland anymore. It's a walk through music history from the Beatles all the way up to today. All here at the Grammy Museum.
