Bio
Ludwig van Beethoven, an influential German composer and virtuoso pianist, was considered a decisive, pivotal figure between the Classical and Romantic eras. Beginning in the late 1790s, Beethoven began to lose his hearing, yet he continued to compose, perform and conduct. By 1814, he was completely deaf, and despite this, he would continue to compose some of his most distinguished works, including his celebrated Ninth Symphony.
