Video TranscriptionI was in a rehearsal at Juilliard with a guest conductor. Rehearsals in this orchestra though could be a bit wild as I remember once with a student conductor, while rehearsing Bartok's Concerto for Orchestra, when it came to the part where the trombones gliss up, suddenly the brass section started to play a famous Sousa march and the room erupted with laughter, paper being thrown in the air, you get the idea. The Dean had to come up to calm things down! Well back to my story. You see during a rehearsal this guest conductor stopped the orchestra, turned to the first violin section, looked at me and said "don't you feel strange?" I looked at him and said "are you talking to me?" And he said "yes I'm talking to you." And I said "No. Why should I feel strange?" and he said "but you are the only non-asian in the first violin section." Automatic video-to-text transcription by DaDaScribe.com |
