I am using the copy of On the Steps of the Palace for an exam. Is there any watermark showing the publisher or is there anywhere on the score which shows the publisher as "Hal Leonard"?

Yes, of course. Members have unlimited access to the VSM repertoire, and if you buy music from Alfred, Schott or Hal Leonard, you'll need to decide the number of copies of music you want to purchase first, then you'll have unlimited access to those copies as well.
