BioAntonio Vivaldi was a prolific Italian composer who ordained a priest in the late Baroque era. He was nicknamed the "Red Priest" because of his bright red hair. Vivaldi spent most of his life as a church musician, composer, teacher, and conductor. His exuberant, innovative compositional style had a significant impact on the young Johann Sebastian Bach and influenced the musical transition from the Baroque period to the Classical period. Vivaldi wrote many sacred choral works, over 40 operas, and around 500 instrumental concertos.
