Frederic ChopinBorn March 1, 1810, Zelazowa Wola, Poland
Died October 17, 1849, Paris, France
BioThe Polish composer Frederic Chopin is considered one of the masters of the Romantic era. He spent most of his life as a virtuoso pianist, composer, and piano teacher. His compositions were for solo piano, including many etudes, preludes, ballades, scherzos, sonatas, mazurkas, nocturnes, waltzes, and impromptus and polonaises. Chopin composed two piano concertos, several songs set to Polish text, a piano trio, and a cello sonata. He was only thirty-nine when he died, possibly due to tuberculosis or cystic fibrosis.
