Comments and reviews about Donkey Serenade:
I was thrilled to be able to transpose it to the key that the children can sing along with...
It is not ideal for accompaniment - this version of the song is best for film score and arrangement - so some of the chord progressions are just not simple on a piano - especially if you have changed it to a key with many sharps.
It also pushes the notation out of the staff in various places, forcing you to read ledger lines - which can be tiresome for the "average" pianist - as I myself am.
HOWEVER, I am delighted to be reading the score for myself as it was originally written, and what a marvellous, somewhat challenging, yet refreshing composition it is.
The lack of the melody line and lyrics is challenging for anyone who wants to use it for song accompaniment - but if you are happily able to work that out for yourself, this original score adds wonderfully to the rhythms and harmonies that you need to develop for accompaniment.
