Reviews about Toccata and Fugue:
When I first heard this masterpiece at the age around 10 I believed that I will always consider it a principal composition for organ. I found the initial theme clear and strong. The entrance of the pedal seemed to me essential in building the architecture of this pilar. And later, also during the fuga, the use of the pedal contibues essentially to build up this masterpiece of human creation.
I thought that it would not do justice to play it on the piano. However, as now there is so much good music available on the internet, I have listened to fulilling interpreatations on the piano and have also downloaded the notes to play it myself. This transcription is not the first one that I have played. I thank the authors very much for the effort to arrange this piece for the piano and enable many that do not have the oportunity to practice and play the organ to enjoy in bringing it to life.
- No measure numbering
- Triplets and duplets notation is confusing at first
- Fingering may be improved, but in the end everyone uses what fits him
- The repeated A4 on both hands at measure 14 is quite confusing (still looking for a convenient fingering)
Otherwise a very recommendable transcription.
